We don’t only do Road Safety Audits and a number of clients are now commissioning us to carry out Safety Assessments. This Safety Assessment was carried out on a new Multi-Storey Car Park (MSCP) for Warwick University.
In an initial meeting with our Technical Director, Harminder Aulak, our client explained a number of potential safety concerns about the MSCP and the surrounding areas. Following this initial meeting the team made up of Harminder Aulak and Graduate Engineer Richard Cook observed the location at AM peak and PM peak periods. During the site visits the team was asked to identify the issues by observing vehicle and pedestrian movements, assess and quantify the risk from low to high and also make recommendations to mitigate the risk. It was clear from visiting the site that there were a number of conflict points and potential mitigation measures could be implemented to lower the risk.
In the report, the team made various recommendations proportional to the identified risks which could be implemented to lower the risks posed to users of the MSCP.
Harminder Aulak had this to say about the Safety Assessment,
“We have carried out safety assessments for a number of Universities around the country, including Lancaster and the University of East Anglia. Warwick University is local to our offices and we are familiar with the layout and operation of the campus in terms of vehicle and pedestrian movements. We were pleased to be of assistance to the University and are on call to carry out further studies when required.”
