Marston Gate Phase 2 Collision Investigation Study

Project Overview

  • We carried out a collision investigation study on behalf of a developer and highway authority involving a commercial development.
  • Analysing collision data and identifying any clusters
  • The report was presented to the Client and Council

Our approach

We recently undertook a collision investigation study on behalf of a developer and highway authority involved in a commercial development off M1 junction 13 in Bedfordshire, known as Marston Gate Phase 2. The purpose of the study was to assess the impact of the development on existing collision patterns and trends. The study involving analysing 55 injury collisions, which occurred over a three-year period. Data was made available in Stats 19 and ‘premium’ CrashMap formats and the Project Team, Harminder Aulak and Robert Cyples used their expertise to plot and statistically analyse the detailed collision information.

Where clusters and common factors were found, the team determined whether mitigation measures were recommended to counteract the effect of the development. The information was presented to the Client and Council to discuss next steps as part of the scheme progression.
